Horsell Common
Scots pine wood on the northern edge of the Grasslands area of Horsell Common. As with all pine woods there is no understorey due to the shade and the poisoning effect of the fallen pine needles. The Scots Pine is one of the archetypal trees of lowland heath as it is able to grow in the poor soil of these areas.
