St Mary, Ewshot: grave of a former incumbent
Creed was born at Wickham Market on 7 June 1864. He was educated at Great Yarmouth Grammar School https://www.archives.norfolk.gov.uk/en/Help-with-your-research/Education/Grammar-schools/Great-Yarmouth-Grammar-School and Christ's College, Cambridge https://www.christs.cam.ac.uk/ He taught at Bolton Grammar School http://boltonschoolarchives.cook.websds.net/ from 1887 to 1889. He was ordained in 1890 and served curacies at Ashington, Sussex https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3128955 and Old Shoreham https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/60858 He was Chaplain of Hazlewood School Surrey https://www.hazelwoodschool.co.uk/ from 1894 to 1896, Chaplain of Trinity College Glenalmond https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glenalmond_College from 1896 to 1900, and a Chaplain in South Africa during the Boer War https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Boer_War from 1901 to 1902. He was Headmaster of Church Hill Preparatory School http://www.hambo.org/hazelwood/view_man.php?id=44 from 1903 to 1910 when he came to Ewshott. During World War One he was a temporary naval chaplain.
