Draped across a hedge
At first glance this may look like a tent, but there are several similar examples on other hedges in the area. That given, these must be fences to be negotiated by equine sports enthusiasts. The horses might well be thankful for a softer obstacle,

The lands beside the church
There are faint ripples and lines in this paddock just south of St Arild's church. They appear to be the outlines of earlier houses and buildings that were here in long distant times. Today Oldbury on the Hill is a sparse parish, largely centred around the old Manor House and farm.

Lost houses of Oldbury on the Hill
The fields below the church were once occupied with many buildings, but they are long gone now. A few ridges and ripples in the landscape are all that remain.

The buildings are gone
Oldbury on the Hill today consists of little more than the Manor Farm and the bijou St Arild's church (which itself is no longer in service). The fields south of them are marked with the outlines of former buildings, thought to have been old houses and farm buildings from the time when the village was larger.
