Restoration site, Bowbridge Lock, March 2016
The Thames & Severn Canal opened in 1789 and was officially abandoned in 1933. This lock was partially restored in the mid 1970s and is now being fully restored. Note the changes since 2008 Image and 2012 Image

A circular spill weir
A circular spill weir beside Bowbridge Lock on the Thames and Severn Canal. A spill weir as the name suggests allows surplus water in the canal to flow past a lock down to the next level. Circular spill weirs such as this one are less common.
