Streamlike River Chelt, Cheltenham
Viewed from St George's Place. In many parts of Cheltenham the Chelt is underground. Despite being largely unseen, the river is a flood threat. In the summer of 2007, many areas of the town were seriously flooded.

Cheltenham houses [102]
This terrace of seven houses, odd numbers 89 to 103 St George's Place, are now a mix of offices and flats. Constructed circa 1810, in stuccoed brick with fine detailing, with slate roofs. Number 101 has first floor balconies. Some houses have retained some original internal features. Listed, grade II, with details at: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1387831 Cheltenham is located at the foot of the Cotswold scarp with the small River Chelt flowing through the town. After the discovery of mineral springs in 1716 Cheltenham became a spa town and many Regency houses and other buildings were erected. The town is home to the renowned Cheltenham Festival, four days of horse jump racing culminating in the Gold Cup, held annually in March at the nearby racecourse.
