Burlington House, Lypiatt Road, Cheltenham
A large refined house featuring a Greek Doric porte-cochere. One of a sequence of villas on the street's east side built c1830, probably by Edward Jenkins. Grade II listed.
Like the others it has been converted into offices.

Burlington House
Burlington House was formerly Suffolk Lawn and during the second half of the 19th century was Suffolk Hall Preparatory School. Oriana Souper who married Edward Wilson of Scott's ill-fated South Pole expedition was a matron here for a short time. During War World I the building was used as a Voluntary Aid Detachment. In the 1830s, the house was home to the actress Harriet Mellon, first wife of the 9th Duke of St Albans. Today the building is offices.

Cheltenham buildings [89]
This fine villa, Carrick House in Lypiatt Road, is now used as offices. Built circa 1829 with later alterations. Constructed in ashlar over brick with a concealed roof. One of a group of distinguished group of villas along the east side of Lypiatt Road. Listed, grade II, with details at: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1245262
Cheltenham is located at the foot of the Cotswold scarp with the small River Chelt flowing through the town. After the discovery of mineral springs in 1716 Cheltenham became a spa town and many Regency houses and other buildings were erected. The town is home to the renowned Cheltenham Festival, four days of horse jump racing culminating in the Gold Cup, held annually in March at the nearby racecourse.
