On the west side of Montpellier Street is this K6 telephone box, designed in 1935 by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott. Listed, grade II, with details at: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1387126 Cheltenham is located at the foot of the Cotswold scarp with the small River Chelt flowing through the town. After the discovery of mineral springs in 1716 Cheltenham became a spa town and many Regency houses and other buildings were erected. The town is home to the renowned Cheltenham Festival, four days of horse jump racing culminating in the Gold Cup, held annually in March at the nearby racecourse.

Montpelier Street runs parallel to the well known Promenade. The Montpelier Spa dome stands out.

The Rotunda has fronts to both Montpellier Street, seen here, and Montpellier Walk Image Built as a pump room with a reading room and a billiard room in 1817 with the rotunda added in 1825. Constructed in ashlar with a copper roof, and modelled on the Pantheon (Rome) with similar proportions. There was a bank agency in part of the building from 1882 and eventually the entire building became a banking hall. The bank closed in 2017 and the building is now a restaurant. The Montpellier Rotunda and Pump Room, for many years this was a branch of Lloyds Bank, today it is The Ivy Montpellier Brasserie. The building's long room was built in 1817, the architect probably being Underwood. Rotunda was added 1825-6, and designed by JB Papworth.
