St Andrew's URC, Cheltenham
Located on the corner of Montpellier Street and Fauconberg Road, the United Reformed Church St Andrew's was formerly a Presbyterian church. The church and spire were built in 1885. The hall and ancillary rooms were added ten years later. In 2002 the church underwent a major refurbishment programme. The nearby town hall serves as a centre for Cheltenham’s famous international arts and science festivals and St Andrew's is used for some of the fringe events. The church premises are also used extensively by various local organisations.

Cheltenham buildings [39]
The former Presbyterian church of St Andrew is now the United Reformed church. Built in 1886 in the Gothic Revival and Early English styles. Listed, along with the church hall at the rear, grade II, with details at: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1387324 The boundary walls, gate piers and overthrow are also listed, grade II, with details at: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1387325 Cheltenham is located at the foot of the Cotswold scarp with the small River Chelt flowing through the town. After the discovery of mineral springs in 1716 Cheltenham became a spa town and many Regency houses and other buildings were erected. The town is home to the renowned Cheltenham Festival, four days of horse jump racing culminating in the Gold Cup, held annually in March at the nearby racecourse.

The United Reformed church of St Andrew on the corner of Montpellier Street and Fauconberg Road was built in 1886. An aisleless nave and chancel design in Early English style. Constructed of rusticated stone with a tile roof. Listed, grade II, with details at: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1387324 Cheltenham is located at the foot of the Cotswold scarp with the small River Chelt flowing through the town. After the discovery of mineral springs in 1716 Cheltenham became a spa town and many Regency houses and other buildings were erected. Cheltenham buildings [40]
Hanover House (left of image) and number 1 Montpellier Walk are part of a development of circa 1840 comprising a terrace of 23 shops with flats above and a banking hall. The development has some fine caryatids (elegant Grecian figures, representing Athenian virgins, dressed in their Panathenaic costume). The banking hall, formerly home to the National Westminster Bank, is now occupied by an Italian restaurant.
