Cheltenham features [43]
In Regent Street this delightful lamp post was first lit in 1869 and is an early example of one intended for electricity. It has an arched lamp holder and dragon infill with crowning onion finial. Listed, grade II, with details at: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1387771 Cheltenham is located at the foot of the Cotswold scarp with the small River Chelt flowing through the town. After the discovery of mineral springs in 1716 Cheltenham became a spa town and many Regency houses and other buildings were erected. The town is home to the renowned Cheltenham Festival, four days of horse jump racing culminating in the Gold Cup, held annually in March at the nearby racecourse.

Stamford House in Regent Street is now used for offices. Built circa 1827 of stuccoed brick with a concealed roof and iron railings and verandah. Listed, grade II, with details at: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/results/?searchType=NHLE+Simple&search=1387768 Cheltenham is located at the foot of the Cotswold scarp with the small River Chelt flowing through the town.
