This incongruous section of suburbia is named after Gloucester's twin city, the capital of Lorraine in eastern France.

Part of the later stage of a large council estate begun in 1931. These houses were built from 1938 by Albert Norman, City Architect. Pevsner thought them more severe and unwelcoming than the earlier houses (e.g. Image]).
