Comet, Unit 2 Metz Way, Eastbrook Road, Gloucester
Comet was for many years one of the UK's leading electrical retailers. Unfortunately various adverse factors forced the company into administration in early November 2012. The administrators have put the remaining stock on sale with varying discounts, with posters in the windows announcing that everything must go. Unless a buyer materialises, it seems that most or all the stores might be closed in a matter of days. This branch is known as Gloucester Eastern Avenue as Metz Way leads off this road. The rain coming down in buckets added to the general feeling of gloom about losing yet another well known chain of stores. Comet had another branch in Gloucester at the St. Oswald's Retail Park, and this closed on Monday the 19th November 2012, being one of the 41 stores closed so far. Unfortunately time didn't permit a visit to that part of the city.
