Churchdown Park
The Churchdown Parish Council Skate Facility, which is soon to be replaced by a more sophisticated sett of ramps, pipes and rails. Churchdown Park nestles just south of the A40.

GW 0-6-2T on a Paddington - Cheltenham express at Churchdown
View westward, towards Gloucester: ex-GW&Midland Gloucester - Cheltenham Joint main line - see also Image and Image etc. This is the 09.05 from Paddington on the final part of its journey, rather unusually hauled by an 0-6-2T, No. 6696 (built 10/28).

Pembroke Dock - Birmingham Snow Hill express passing Churchdown
View westward, towards Gloucester etc.: ex-GW & Midland Gloucester - Cheltenham Joint line (for details see other scenes at Churchdown). During the brief period when BR 9F 2-10-0s were used on express passenger work, No. 92237 (built 9/58, withdrawn 9/65) heads the Saturdays Only 08.30 from Pembroke Dock, due Snow Hill at 15.17.

Bristol - Bradford express at Churchdown
View westward towards Gloucester: ex-Midland & GWR Joint, Gloucester - Cheltenham main line; for route details, see other Churchdown scenes. Stanier 5MT 4-6-0 No. 44963 (built 7/46, withdrawn 7/68 - almost the End of Steam) heads the Summer Saturday Relief 15.50 Bristol via Birmingham New St. and Leeds to Bradford Forster Square (due 22.45).

Two light engines coupled heading towards Cheltenham
View towards Gloucester etc. from a bridge over the railway, Churchdown station being off to the right: ex-GW & Midland Joint Cheltenham - Gloucester main line (see other Churchdown scenes for details of routes along this busy stretch, which was quadrupled 1942 - 1967). Two LMS Fowler 4F 0-6-0s, Nos. 44454 (1928 - 10/63) and 44179( 1925 - 12/64) are passing my Morris Oxford parked in the road above.

Newquay - Wolverhampton holiday express approaching Churchdown station
View westward, towards Gloucester, South Wales, Bristol, Swindon etc.; ex-GWR & Midland Cheltenham - Gloucester Joint main line. The train left Newquay at 11.15 and will have come up via Bristol on the GW exit via Filton Junction and by-passed Gloucester on the Tuffley Junction - Engine Shed Junction direct (ex-GW) line. (For further detail see Image], Image] and Image]). The locomotive is 4-6-0 No. 5912 'Queen's Hall' (built 6/31, withdrawn 12/62).

Site of Churchdown station, 1986
View NE, towards Cheltenham etc.: ex-GW & Midland Joint Gloucester etc. - Cheltenham etc. main line. This important line had been quadrupled for War traffic in 1942, but reverted to double-track in 1967. Churchdown station was closed from 2/11/64. (See also several other scenes, Image] etc.).

Churchdown: Down relief express to Bristol from Birmingham and the North, 1957
View NE towards Cheltenham on the four-track LMS&GW Joint main line to Gloucester and beyond, which was only four-track 1942-67. The locomotive is Stanier Class 5 4-6-0 No. 44826 (built 1944, withdrawn 9/67).
