Old Milestone by the B4228, south of St Briavels
Carved stone post by the B4228, in parish of HEWELSFIELD AND BROCKWEIR (FOREST OF DEAN District), North of junction to Harthill Court, on grass verge, on East side of road. Chepstow stone, erected by the Chepstow District turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- To Chepstow 7 Miles Cancelled carved benchmark on front top. Grade II listed. This milestone is in the hedge on the east side of the B4228 road from St Briavels to Chepstow. It is leaning into the field and is about a foot from the wheels of passing traffic.
