St Briavels castle
The castle was once the administrative centre for the Hundred of the Forest of Dean. It was built in reign of Henry I by Milo Fitz Walter (Earl of Hereford) and used as a Royal Hunting Lodge.

Hunting Horn, St Briavels Castle
The castle was the headquarters of the monarch presence in the Forest of Dean. A hunting horn was the badge of Constable of Forest, hence this ornate decoration one of the castle chimneys.
