The Lyd, Norchard, Lydney

Norchard Electricity Sub Station
On both sides of the road adjacent to Norchard train station, this extensive electricity facility is a direct successor to the former Lydney power station which occupied the site until closure in the early 1960s.
Coal fired, it was supplied directly from Norchard Colliery which used to be on the site taken up now by railway sidings.
Near one of the station platforms is a manhole which still gives access to some of the old mine tunnels. See Image
