Wilcox House
Quote from Newnham pages in the Gloucestershire, The Vale and the Forest of Dean volume of “The Buildings of England” (commonly called Pevsner from the person who wrote many of the volumes), this volume is by David Verey. “Wilcox House is C17, roughcast, with later sash windows, and doors with cambered hoods on wooden pillars. The interior has interesting modelled plaster ceilings; in a ground floor room, panelling of c.1690, with a shell cupboard, a plaster ceiling showing crossed swords, and a fireplace with a fluted keystone. Front room upstairs with a Jacobean geometrical pattern on the ceiling with slight pendant bosses and thistles; back room with geometrical and nail-head patterns on the ceiling and a carved date stone S.W.:I.H.:1665”
