Berkeley Power Station
Berkeley nuclear power station is a disused Magnox power station situated on the bank of the River Severn. Built in 1956, Berkeley was the first commercial nuclear power station in the United Kingdom to be decommissioned following its closure in 1989. All fuel has been removed and some of the structures demolished but residual radiation means that the site cannot be safely cleared until 2070. In this photograph, much of the building is shrouded in mist rising from the River Severn.
