The Chantry, Edward Jenner's House
This elegant eighteenth century house, a former vicarage, was the home of Edward Jenner. It is now a museum celebrating the his life and work. The Chantry is a Grade II listed building (http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-132202-the-chantry-berkeley British Listed Buildings).
Doctor Jenner was the pioneer of smallpox vaccine. He is often referred to as "the father of immunology", and his work is said to have "saved more lives than the work of any other man". (read more at http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/historic_figures/jenner_edward.shtml - BBC History).
Jenner, who lived from 1749-1823, grew up in Berkeley and returned to work as the town's doctor after compoleting his training in London.

Jenner Museum, Berkeley
Set back from Church Lane, the museum is located in the former home of Dr Edward Jenner (1749-1823), pioneer of vaccination. Open to the public from April to September, the site includes a garden with vinery and the Temple of Vaccinia.
