The Ardencaple Hotel
For another view, and for context, see Image This building dates from the early nineteenth century, and was "used as a posting inn on the road between Glasgow and Inveraray" ["North Clyde Estuary – An Illustrated Architectural Guide", Frank Arneil Walker with Fiona Sinclair]. See http://portal.historic-scotland.gov.uk/designation/LB19525 (at Historic Environment Scotland) for its listed building report. An earlier reference: Donald MacLeod, in his "Garelochside and Helensburgh" (1883), writes that "the new or Ardencaple Inn ... formed one of the stages where horses were changed on the coaching run from Glasgow to Inveraray".
