These houses look fairly new, but as I am about 300 miles from home I have no idea when they were built.

An archaeological artwork
This gnomon-like structure, standing at the eastern end of James Hamilton Heritage Park, has a spiral of text on each side. The text begins on the reverse side, running from apex to centre, and continues on the side shown here, running from centre to apex. The text (credited to Eric and Bill Niven) appears to be simply an extract from a local history of East Kilbride, and discusses various archaeological finds made in this area in the eighteenth century. Next to the base of the monument, on each side, is a relief work depicting the contents of an ancient cairn burial, including a skeleton and an urn. This artwork stands alongside Image (and can be seen in the distance in that photo).
