East Kilbride railway station, South Lanarkshire
Opened in 1868 by the Busby Railway which became part of the Caledonian Railway empire, the line once ran from Glasgow to Hamilton but the section beyond East Kilbride was not a commercial success, and this has been the terminus for many years. View east towards the buffers.

East Kilbride Station, 1965
Although the line continued beyond the station for freight, originally linking to Blantyre, East Kilbride has been the passenger terminus since WW1. The attractive Caledonian Railway signal box has sadly disappeared. https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3699913
