South Scott Street, Baillieston
This first part of this street was laid down in 1936; it dissects the area known as The Bauks. The street was named after land owner George Scott Nelson-Scott of Daldowie.

Baillieston, Calder Place
Post war housing, originally named 'The Bauks' - after the historic name of the area the name was changed to the present in 1951 by Lanarkshire county council after complaints by some residents who objected to the name. The present appellation is a bland reference to a nearby river.

Baillieston, Calder Place from Muirside Street.
Originally named the 'Bauks'- there are people with that address on their birth certificates - the name was changed in 1951 after complaints by residents - and so they got the really upmarket fancy name of Calder Place. Shame on them and shame on Lanarkshire county council for bowing to eedjits and sinking history.

Baillieston, Victory Way
Located off Nelson Street, the councillor who suggested the name probably linked the former and the latter. The development was built by John M. Norman Ltd. of Bellshill in 1968/69 for Lanarkshire county council. Prior to this the site was occupied by 'Pre-Fabs' built soon after WW2 to alleviate a chronic housing shortage.

Baillieston, George Street
Built in 1937-39 it was not named after the reigning monarch [George VI] but after George Scott Nelson Scott of Wester Daldowie whose family sold this land to Lanarkshire county council in 1934.
