Canal towpath near Twechar
The towpath of the Forth and Clyde canal approaching Twechar from the west is squeezed between the B8023 road and the road. National Cycle Route 754 follows this canal towpath for a large part of its length.

Canal at Twechar
The Roman Antonine Wall ran along the right bank of the canal but as only a ditch remains, it is impossible to see. The line of the wall followed a straight line to the Roman Fort on Barr Hill (in the distance).
