Kilsyth Battlefield, Auchinvalley
Here is shown only the older buildings and ruins of Auchinvalley. In maps prior to the First Edition O.S. - surveyed in this district in 1859, this name did not appear but instead a farm called Taigston did. There may have been a name change for this old place. The first fighting of the battle of Kilsyth took place here in and around the buildings and walled enclosures. It may be the same walls and buildings in the above photo.
