Commemorative stone
The small stone is situated beside a specially planted tree in Barloch Moor. In memory of Moir Garrett M.B.E. (1926 – 2013) Arctic Convoy Veteran and of his brave fellow seamen in the Merchant Navy, who took part in the Arctic and Atlantic Convoys during the World War II (1939 – 1945) Moir gave so generously of his time to the Milngavie Community Moir Mitchell Garrett was a holder of the Arctic Emblem awarded to veterans of the Second World War convoy to Russia and in 2007 was awarded the MBE for services to the community of Milngavie and the surrounding districts (Information from The Herald newspaper).
