Site of former primary school
The site of the former St Joseph's Primary School https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6014097. The school closed in June 2018 and pupils and staff moved to the newly built St. Nicholas’ Primary the following August. The buildings lay empty for a year until demolition began in August 2019, which now appears to be almost complete. There are plans to build a new nursery for up to 90 children on the site.

Artist's impression - Oakburn Early Years Centre
The new Oakburn Early Years Centre is being built on the site of the former St Joseph’s Primary School on Craigdhu Road, Milngavie. When completed it will offer 94 places. It is one of three such centres being built in East Dunbartonshire as part of the Council's commitment to deliver on the Scottish Government's requirement for additional hours of early learning and childcare. Most construction projects in Scotland were stopped due to the Coronaviris (Covid-19) pandemic. This means this project will be delayed by several months.

Redundant gate
This pedestrian gate and gateposts originally gave access St Joseph's Primary School, which opened in 1961 (and closed in 2018). A larger, vehicular gate was just to the right. It has clearly been out of use for a long time and is pretty much blocked by the electricity substation on the other side.

Electricity substation
The substation used to serve St Joseph's Primary School (now demolished). It presumably now serves the new building on the site, the Oakburn Early Years Centre.
