Euginia Bujak of Slovenia passes Arnold Clark's car dealership in Milngavie in the cycling time trial for women. She eventually finished in 7th place. The route passed through northern Glasgow and parts of East Dunbartonshire, resulting in a large number of road closures on the day.

Ellen Van Dijk of the Netherlands passes Arnold Clark's car dealership in Milngavie in the cycling time trial for women, just ahead of Belgium's Ann-Sophie Duyck, who she has just past. Ellen Van Dijk went on to win the gold medal. Ann-Sophie Duyck finished in 9th place. The route passed through northern Glasgow and parts of East Dunbartonshire, resulting in a large number of road closures on the day.

Rhododendron hedge
The slope here beside the A81, Main Street, is covered by a continuous very tall hedge of Rhododendron. This forms a substantial green barrier between the houses behind and the road. At this time of year it puts on a good show as the plants come into flower.

Sorry, we're closed
Arnold Clark Milngavie has closed. A car dealership has been in operation on this site beside the A81 for many years (originally Halleys). However, the current lease of the site expired at the end of January 2022. The owners are intending to build a major new retail development instead.
