Kirk Place, 1887
The two carved sandstone plaques, saying '1887' and 'KIRK PLACE' are set in the wall of the building housing two shops on New Kirk Road Image The building itself is relatively recent - certainly not of that date. Kirk Place used to extend from New Kilpatrik Parish Church to this point, where it became Stewart Place. Stewart Place and half of the length of Kirk Place were renamed New Kirk Road around the time this building was erected, so the carved stones may have come from the original building on this site.
