The property on the left was a local library until it became Romy's chip shop in 1982. In January 2017 it closed, but then re-opened a few days later three doors further down (the blue frontage). Following some major refurbishment, including the addition of new dormer and velux windows, the property has just re-opened as a restaurant - called the Library. The Library together with the adjoining restaurant - Raffaelle’s Italian Kitchen and Bar, and Romy's are all run by the same family, appealing to a range of different culinary tastes.

The property on the left was Romy's chip shop until January 2017 when it re-opened as a steak restaurant - called the Library [http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5470872]. This doesn't appear to have been as successful as hoped, so it has now been re-branded (under the same management) as 'Burger and Bun'.

The former Burger & Bun and Raffaelle's Image have been replaced by Beat 6 and Oi Mamma (Italian kitchen and bar). According to Beat 6's website: 'Beat 6 is a social enterprise founded by Nico Simeone, the owner of Six by Nico, and his wife, Valentina. Many years ago Valentina was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma and was supported at Beatson Cancer Charity. She was fortunate to make a full recovery. Ever since, Nico and Valentina wanted to do more to support people affected by cancer. 100% of profits are donated to the Beatson Cancer Charity'.
