Glasgow Central Mosque
The mosque is located on the south bank of the River Clyde, in the Gorbals area of Glasgow. It opened in 1984. The building sits in a walled garden and has a separate minaret (seen on the right). The glass dome is centred on the main prayer hall. Within the compound there is also an Islamic Centre for general community events. The mosque belongs to the Deobandi branch within the Sunni tradition of Islam.
