Glasgow Loco Works (St Rollox)
I hope I got the position right, the old map didn't show. These are scrap locos awaiting the end in 1976.

The End Is Nigh
The scrap line of St Rollox Works with Class 40, 40072, awaiting final dismemberment by the cutters torch. In front are the bogies and last vestiges of a Class 24 or 25 (there's not enough left to be certain which). Beyond the fence are the sheds of Sighthill Freight Terminal, soon to be demolished themselves. The whole of the area in this image has now become a retail park. I have located the image as best possible in the circumstances using Old Maps as a reference and another image of 40072 from the opposite end. A view of the same locomotive at work two years earlier can be seen at Image

St Rollox Open Day 1981 (more)
Unfortunately the photo is a bit blurred. However, this was an unusual sight on the railway scene in Scotland - the appearance of a Class 44 at the 1981 open day, parked in front of the Class 37 in the previous photo. I think this is 44 008 which had moved up to the Strathspey Railway at Aviemore around this time, after the class had been withdrawn from BR.
