The Magpie's Nest is one of two linked affordable charity shops on Burleigh Street, raising funds for Starter Packs Glasgow https://www.starterpacks.org.uk/. Cardell Halls, Govan, and Brechin's bar
Category B listed building http://portal.historicenvironment.scot/designation/LB33344 dating from 1894, which was originally built as a Temperance Headquarters. It is now Brechin's Bar. Statue of Sir William Pearce
The inscription on the plinth below reads: SIR WILLIAM PEARCE BART, M.P. DIED 18TH DECEMBER 1888 AGED 55 YEARS On the reverse is states: ERECTED BY PUBLIC SUBSCRIPTION IN GRATEFUL RECOGNITION OF HIS NUMEROUS NOBLE QUALITIES, AS A MAN AND EMPLOYER OF LABOUR. 1894 Sir William was general manager of Napier's Yard, Govan in 1863; partner in John Elder and Co from 1869 becoming sole proprietor of Fairfield in 1878, was Govan's first MP in 1885, and made a baronet in 1887.
