Glasgow: Glasgow Evangelical Church
A church on Cathedral Square which seems to have escaped the notice of the Ordnance Survey 1:50,000 map. It is so close to Cathedral Square that one might be forgiven for momentarily assuming that this is the cathedral!

Oh, how you've changed with every passing year
Like the angel from Wim Wenders' film 'Wings of Desire', a son of early 19thC Glasgow seems to survey a city he would no longer recognise, if alive today. I couldn't discover his name without risking life and limb, as he overlooks a steep drop, but I could make out that he was a military man who fought during Massena's Retreat and at Campo Mayor, Fuentes de Oñoro and Badajoz in the Peninsular War. Thanks to Lairich Rig, I now know that he is Lieutenant-Colonel Alexander Hope Pattison (1787-1835), Commander-in-Chief of the Second West India Regiment. A memorial to his nephew, Lieutenant Alexander Hope Pattison (1813-34) of the same regiment is nearby. Both died in the Bahamas and were buried in the same tomb in New Providence on the island of Nassau.
