At a bend in the river the picture looks west from a point on the Clyde Walkway. The houses across the water were built for the athletes' village in the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

River Clyde, Parkhead
Feeling very rural with weed choked fields over the river and woodland on the Parkhead side. Himalayan Balsam, Impatiens glandulifera, growing along most of the river banks here.

Davis Cup Action - Emirates Arena
Denis Istomin serves for Uzbekistan in the Davis Cup tie against Great Britain's Dan Evans. At the time the match was one set all, but it eventually went to a thrilling five sets - which Great Britain won, setting up a 3-1 overall victory. The Emirates Arena has been a regular venue for Great Britain's home matches in recent years, with its enthusiastic and highly partisan spectators, but sadly changes to the Davis Cup format in 2019 mean that it is unlikely that the event will again be staged in Glasgow for some time to come, if ever.

Clyde walkway, Parkhead
Despite the graffiti and gang nonsense on the wall this section of the walkway (also National Cycle Route 75) feels very rural. Kingfishers along the river on one side, and behind the sturdy fence an area of woodland and unused land.
