Templeton's Carpet Factory
In the latter part of the nineteenth century, substantial building took place near to Glasgow Green. The City Fathers did not want to see the Green defiled by low quality structures and in 1889, when James Templeton built his carpet factory he had it designed to model the Doge's Palace in Venice. Carpet making ended in 1979, and the building was converted into a Business Centre. More recently, parts of the former factory have undergone further conversion to residential accommodation and a bar/restaurant within the complex. The building is listed Category A Looking across the Sculpture Garden from The People's Palace and Winter Gardens.
