Park Circus
An elegant residential area of Glasgow, high above Kelvingrove Park and with magnificent views across the city. Residential development began here in 1855 and Park Circus was built between 1857 and 1863. Many of these houses have columned entrance halls and rich plasterwork. Nearly all have now been converted into offices and business premises.

Setts, Park Street South, Kelvingrove, Glasgow
Whatever the original road surface, to wheeled traffic the footway-wide band of grey setts would have signalled 'pedestrian crossing' and still does. The band of setts parallel to the kerb, stretching away down Park Terrace, appears to be for collecting surface water and retarding its flow.

These impressive steps, designed by Charles Wilson, were constructed between 1853 and 1854 of grey Bonawe granite from Argyll to link Park Gardens with Woodlands Terrace. The cost was £10,000, a substantial sum at the time.
