Mitchell Street public art (taxi)
A strikingly realistic looking man hails a black taxi which is floating above the ground thanks to several balloons. Note that the "bricks" behind the taxi are painted on to a plastered wall. By artist Rogue-one who also painted the nearby Clyde Street murals http://www.geograph.org.uk/snippet/8957 . On Mitchell Lane at Argyle Street, near the larger mural by "Smug". The same wall can be seen in its unpainted form on the left in this photo Image

KFC, Glasgow
Picture of this wonderful art deco building on the corner of Argyle Street and Union Street now home to a Kentucky Fried Chicken outlet on the ground floor. Charles Rennie Mackintosh http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Rennie_Mackintosh would be turning in his grave, but at least there's a Waterstone's Bookshop in the same building to save it from complete embarrassment.

Bus at Hielan'mans Umbrella
Local bus routes don't get much further than this - First Bus Glasgow's 204 service to Balloch, on Loch Lomond. In the distance can be seen Central Station Bridge which crosses Argyle Street. It was named the 'Hielan'mans Umbrella' (Highland Man) due to many country folk assembling there to keep dry during inclement weather - the insinuation being they were to 'tight' (or careful) with money to spend on such a useful accessory!
