EIS march against education cuts
Waiting on St Vincent Street for traffic to clear so that the rest of the 8000 strong march could cross the M8. Drawing attention to the contraction of education funding in Scotland as a consequence of poor government over the two previous administrations and the consequences of having to bail out failed banks. The Educational Institute of Scotland is the largest teaching union in Scotland. The march launched a campaign under the slogan "Why should our children pay". --- Soon after this event the EIS negotiated and supported a 40% pay cut for supply teachers. Trade unions do not always look after their members, some bat for the other side.
