Red Road Flats
Looking a bit like an American city centre from a distance, well, maybe not! Scene of a recent tragic triple suicide jump from the 15th floor of one of these blocks which were the highest inhabited buildings in Western Europe when they opened to great fanfare in the 1960s.

The End Is Nigh
The scrap line of St Rollox Works with Class 40, 40072, awaiting final dismemberment by the cutters torch. In front are the bogies and last vestiges of a Class 24 or 25 (there's not enough left to be certain which). Beyond the fence are the sheds of Sighthill Freight Terminal, soon to be demolished themselves. The whole of the area in this image has now become a retail park. I have located the image as best possible in the circumstances using Old Maps as a reference and another image of 40072 from the opposite end. A view of the same locomotive at work two years earlier can be seen at Image

Glasgow Loco Works (St Rollox)
I hope I got the position right, the old map didn't show. These are scrap locos awaiting the end in 1976.

St Rollox Depot Open Day 1981
The depot at St Rollox held an open-day in June 1981 - I think Shields Road provided the Class 81 (on the right in the background). Not sure which Class 37 this was, but it was sporting the latest livery of the times ! Some rail-fans travelled all the way from the south of England in a Ford Transit van painted up to look like a Deltic, complete with "FP" depot sticker !
