WD 2-8-0 hauling a new Diesel shunter in Up freight passing Balornock Locomotive Depot
View NE, towards Larbert, Stirling, Perth etc.: ex-Caledonian main line from Glasgow Buchanan Street, taken at the same time as Image Ex-WD 2-8-0 No. 90493 was built as No. 8708 (78708) in 8/44, stored at Longmoor before being shipped to France in 11/44, used by the US Army from 2/45 and returning to England in 12/45 and allocated to St Margarets LNER. It was one of the 200 purchased by the LNER, becoming O7 No. 3172 (63172). It remained in Scotland under BR(ScR), becoming 90493 and was withdrawn in 2/66. The shining new 350hp Diesel-electric 0-6-0 is No. D4098, which became Class 08 No. 08884. It was preserved and in 2/08 was seen at Bescot - unnamed, but may have been named 'Venus' at one time.
