The church was opened as a Presbyterian church in 1756, taking 17 years to complete. The church closed in 1993 and re-opened as a Centre for Traditional Scottish Music, Song and Dance http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6195191 in 2000.

The classical church of St Andrews in the Square was built in 1756 as the centrepiece of a symmetrical square. The interior is very impressive and has been restored to its original elegance.
