The Hampden KiltWalk 2013 crosses Jamaica Street
A damp start in Glasgow for the 26-mile KiltWalk - see Image and Image This photo was taken from the third floor of the Eurohostel: the piers of the former railway bridge (alongside the one currently in use) were inscribed with the phrase from Plato's Republic "All greatness stands firm in the storm" in both Greek and English by Ian Hamilton Finlay, as part of the city-wide public art project for Glasgow's year as European City of Culture in 1990.

This lovely Greek revival building was erected as a customs house in 1840 with the single end bays on both sides added later. Latterly used as the office of the Procurator Fiscal but vacant for the last decade. Soon to be restored as the main entrance to a 150 room aparthotel.
