Entrance to St Enoch Subway Station
Located at 10 St Enoch Square G1 4DB, this glass covered entrance replaced the original entrance behind it somewhile ago. The letter "S" stands for Subway which is Glasgow's underground system, comprising of a loop of 6.5miles (10.4km) and runs north and south of the River Clyde in tunnels with an 11 ft (3.35m) diameter. There are currently 33 carriages dating from 1977-1979 running on this system, but there are plans to introduce 17 new driverless trains from 2020 which will replace these carriages. This is part of the modernisation programme currently taking place by Strathclyde Partnership for Transport for the Glasgow Subway which is also known as "clockwork orange".
