North Woodside Flint Mill
Flint was roasted and pulverised here to provide a powder that was used to strengthen ceramics and also to provide a lighter colour. Flints are usually associated with the Cretaceous chalks of England and would have been imported from the south - they are very rare in Scotland. The mill closed in 1959.
