Babbity Bowster
Category B listed building [http://portal.historicenvironment.scot/designation/LB32625] dating from about 1790 at 18 Blackfriars Street. The former house was refurbished in the 1980s and Babbity Bowster is a bar, restaurant and hotel. According to the bar's website [http://babbitybowster.com/], the Babbity Bowster was a late 18th century dance. “Babbity” being “bob at the” and “Bowster” meaning bolster or large pillow.
