Fylde Blue Bus at Fairhaven
Ex-Fylde Blue Bus Leyland Atlantean number 71 (OJI 4371) on the Inner Promenade at Fairhaven whilst operating route 100, a complimentary service between St Annes and Lytham Hall operated by the Ribble Vehicle Preservation Trust for visitors to the "Lytham Vintage Bus day 2019" event. When new in November 1977, this bus was numbered 85 in the Fylde Borough Transport fleet, carried the registration EBV 85S and was painted blue and white. Following deregulation of the bus industry in 1986, the “Fylde Borough” fleet name was replaced by “Blue Buses” on and a new livery was introduced of two-tone blue. The bus was overhauled and refurbished in 1991 and given a new fleet number (71) and registration (OJI 4371). It continued to operate until 2004 when it was retired from service and acquired for preservation. Former tram shelter in Clifton Drive, Ansdell, Lytham
Once a tramway closes, the evidence of its existence usually disappears fairly fast. However, this is an interesting survivor from the tramway which used to run from Lytham to Blackpool via St. Annes-on-Sea. In 1920 the tramway came into municipal ownership and in 1923 this shelter was built by John Heap & Sons of St. Annes, at the request of the recently formed Lytham St. Annes Borough Council. The shelter served tramway passengers until 1936 when the tramway between Lytham and St. Annes was closed. The remaining section to Blackpool lingered on until final closure on the 28th April 1937. An offer from Blackpool Council to purchase and run the system was turned down, although ironically many years later, in 1994, the bus operation was purchased by Blackpool Council, who continue to run services in Lytham St Annes today. According to the Fylde Bus Blog, the shelter was used by bus passengers after the tramway closure, until the mid-1990's, when road changes meant it became disused. It was restored by Fylde Borough Council and Lytham Civic Society in 2009, and today makes a pleasant shelter, although no longer used by bus passengers.

It served the tramway which ran between Blackpool and Lytham from 1898-1936. The original gas trams were replaced by electric trams in 1903. The shelter was restored in 2009 by the Lytham St Annes Civic Society. Image
