Marsh Mill
Marsh Mill is an 18th-century tower windmill in Thornton, Lancashire, England. It was built in 1794 by Ralph Slater for local landowner Bold Hesketh. It functioned as a corn mill until the 1920s and has been fully restored. It is a good example of a complete English windmill and has been designated a Grade II* listed building. Marsh Mill is built of rendered brick; it is more than 70 feet (21 m) tall and has five storeys.

Marsh Mill, Thornton
Tower mill and attached drying kiln. Mill dated 1794, by Ralph Slater. Altered c1850 and in 1896, extensive repair in 1964, and restored to full working order 1986-90. Drying kiln fully rebuilt 1988-89. Six storeys with four patent sails and winding by fantail. The sails are now turned by an electric motor drive. The interior contains four sets of stones, a jogscry (shaking sieve) and a wire machine. Visited as part of Heritage Open Days with a guided tour.
