This is it!
The oldest of the four historic cars restored at Blackpool for the 75th anniversary is this ex-Conduit car of 1885 When it was being restored, the original fleet number could not be discovered, so No 1 was allocated. (However subsequent work has revealed that it is really No 4). It is seen here on a windswept South Promenade near Starr Gate.

Car 631 approaching Starr Gate
Here is tram No. 631 in its red livery making its contribution to Blackpool's obesity crisis. This is a rebuilt Brush railcoach dating from the 1930s, when, it has to be said, they looked a great deal more attractive than they do now.

Tram approaching Starr Gate
One of Blackpool's fleet of 16 modern trams approaches the southern terminus at Starr Gate. The Blackpool tramway underwent a major rebuilding project that concluded in April 2012; 11 miles of track were replaced and a new depot built for the new trams. They may lack the character of the vintage machines that graced the sea front at Blackpool for so long, but they are undoubtedly more efficient and, of course, comply with disability access regulations. The 'heritage' trams will still be seen operating tours during the summer months.

Tram at Starr Gate Depot
I had been waiting with other people at the Starr Gate terminus for a tram. We were told that there had been some problems up the line and it would be a while before another tram would reach the terminus. They were going to bring a new tram out of the depot to get the service going again. We were led inside the depot yard in order to board the tram.
