The last day of trams on Dickson Road -4
Dickson Road was the last section of traditional street tramway in Blackpool. The terminus outside Blackpool North Station had been the traditional starting point of the route to Fleetwood – formerly the 'Blackpool and Fleetwood Tramroad' – and the service was operated by single-deck trams, latterly the railcoaches of the immediate pre-war period. Subsequently, as now, the Fleetwood service would run the length of the Promenade from Starr Gate. A Fleetwood-bound tram passes Pleasant Street.

Claremont Hotel, North Promenade, Blackpool
The promenade was access only from here due to roadworks outside Daish's Hotel Image, about 200 metres further south. Despite the diversion sign taking drivers up on to Dickson Road, some chose to ignore it and bypassed the roadworks by driving on to the tramway!
