The last day of trams on Dickson Road -6
Dickson Road was the last section of traditional street tramway in Blackpool. The terminus outside Blackpool North Station had been the traditional starting point of the route to Fleetwood – formerly the 'Blackpool and Fleetwood Tramroad' – and the service was operated by single-deck trams, latterly the railcoaches of the immediate pre-war period. Subsequently, as now, the Fleetwood service would run the length of the Promenade from Starr Gate. A Fleetwood-bound tram waits at the departure stop at North Station. Note the time clock on the stop-pole, used to check that the tram did not depart before the scheduled time.
